Quirinal Studios Launches with Basic Reader, a Subscription-Free RSS Reader for iPhone, iPad, and Mac

Toronto, Ontario — September 5, 2026

Quirinal Studios, a new independent iOS development studio, today announced its launch with the release of Basic Reader, a fast, focused RSS and Atom reader for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Basic Reader is available now on the App Store as a free download, with an optional one-time purchase to unlock its full feature set — no subscription, ever.

Basic Reader arrives as most RSS readers have moved to subscription pricing, often charging $8–10 per month for features like content filtering, cross-device sync, and advanced search. Basic Reader takes a different approach: the app is free to download and free to use for reading feeds, and a single one-time purchase unlocks everything else, permanently.

"Most RSS apps have turned into subscription businesses for features that should come standard. I wanted to build something that respects both your privacy and your wallet — download it for free, and if you want more, pay once and it's yours for good." — Leander Quiring, founder of Quirinal Studios

Privacy was a core design constraint from the outset. Basic Reader includes no analytics SDKs and no backend servers — user data lives on-device or in the user's own iCloud account, never on Quirinal Studios' infrastructure.

Basic Reader is available today on the App Store.
